Recipe Scaler

Double it, halve it, or serve twelve — paste your ingredient list and get every amount rescaled, with kitchen-friendly fractions.

Private by design: everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Lines that start with a number are rescaled; anything else is kept as-is and marked.

How it works

  1. Enter the recipe's original servings and how many you want to make.
  2. Paste the ingredient list, one ingredient per line (e.g. "1 1/2 cups flour").
  3. Hit "Scale recipe" — amounts are recalculated and shown as friendly fractions, ready to copy.

FAQ

Does it understand fractions like "1 1/2"?

Yes. Mixed numbers ("1 1/2"), simple fractions ("1/2") and decimals ("0.5") are all parsed, and scaled results are shown as fractions again (e.g. 1.5 cups becomes "1 1/2").

What about lines like "salt to taste"?

Lines without a leading number can't be scaled, so they are kept exactly as you wrote them and marked "kept as-is".

Should cooking times change when I scale?

This tool rescales ingredient amounts only. Oven temperature stays the same; cooking time may need small adjustments — check for doneness a little early.
