How it works
- Open the page — the countdown starts automatically and ticks every second toward the next event.
- During Ramadan it shows which day of the month you are on, then counts down to Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
- Use the table above to plan ahead. Remember the dates are estimates: the real start follows the local moon sighting.
FAQ
Why do Ramadan dates move every year?
The Islamic calendar is lunar (about 354 days per year), so Ramadan starts roughly 11 days earlier each Gregorian year. That is why some years — like 2030 — have two Ramadans.
How long is the fast each day?
The fast runs from dawn (Fajr) to sunset (Maghrib) and its length depends on your location and the season. Use our prayer times calculator to find your local Fajr and Maghrib times.
What is the difference between the two Eids?
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, about 30 days after it starts. Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, comes about 70 days after Ramadan begins, during the Hajj pilgrimage season.
