FAQ

What are lakh and crore?

South Asian number units: 1 lakh = 100,000 (one hundred thousand) and 1 crore = 100 lakh = 10,000,000 (ten million). They are the everyday units in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

How does the 2-2-3 comma format work?

After the first three digits from the right, commas go every two digits: 1,00,000 (one lakh), 1,00,00,000 (one crore) — unlike the Western 1,000,000.

What are arab and kharab?

Larger South Asian units: 1 arab = 100 crore (1 billion) and 1 kharab = 100 arab (100 billion). This converter handles them all the way up to padma and neel in words.
